January Devlog - 1/20/2024


Hiya, Hello! Happy January!

I hope you all had a great New Year so far, and that your plans go even better! 

Pleasantries aside, this will be a small devlog. When you're writing, there's not too much you can share! It can be a very lonely process, but I'm thankful for the help and lovely comments from my friends and Beta Readers. <3

Writing

If you had told me I'd be finished writing soon two months ago, I'd be jumping for joy! Now that the very last route is set to be complete...it's very bittersweet. There's so much I wish I could have included, but struggled to without making one route more packed than the others. Thankfully, I'll be able to expand upon it in the future DLC, but man - I feel so complicated. Before DOAS, I had never finished a story before. Now, I've completed SEVEN. SEVEN!! In six months! That's CRAZY. I love my characters, don't get me wrong, but I don't think you expect them to grow on you so much. It's strange to think about when you have to eventually say goodbye and move on. Here we are, slowly approaching the deadline, though.

A massive thank you to each and every one of my Beta Readers, as well. Each of you has given great feedback so far,  and I love seeing your fun little comments. It is also MIND BOGGLING that the play order changes your perception of these characters, and I'm glad to see that's worked out!

[ For those of you interested, the current recommended play order looks a little like Luca > Alessio > Leonardo > Renzo > Antonio > Angelo > Morgan. (Morgan you can realistically play whenever, as her route is entirely different than the rest, but that's why I put her at the end!)

When the game releases this summer, I'll be sure to include a walkthrough for those of you good-end hunters as well! ]

Art

Here's the part everyone cares most about- art! I've set a deadline for myself. On the 25th, I'm starting the sprite redraws and CGs. I'll be sharing my progress here and there on Twitter - likely on my personal account so I can keep complete/"official" art and such to the Snakkberry page. I'm excited to see how different these guys turn out! The new sprites will also be height-accurate this time. We're also getting some of the faceless sprites replaced, like Grandpa! 

In Summary,

  • The last route will be finished before the month's end
  • Starting the art this month!
  • Working on implementing Beta feedback

Thanks for keeping up with the game! For some of you, we've spent almost a YEAR together. That's insane! I can't tell you how much I truly appreciate it, but I hope the game will live up to your standards. <3
